Counseling and Psychotherapeutic Services

To meet the needs of persons served, counseling and psychotherapy services may be provided at the facility or in the natural environment of the person served, and regardless of the location, services will be provided in such a way to ensure privacy.  This service includes individual and group psychotherapy couples, and family therapy. These interventions are used for the prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation. They may incorporate a variety of theoretical orientations, techniques and modalities such as reality therapy, behavior therapy, social learning approaches, cognitive therapy or environmental manipulation.

Counseling and Psychotherapy services are intended to help the client work toward understanding and resolving emotional conflicts, developing healthier coping strategies, restoring more positive interpersonal and family relationships, and exploring alternative behavior patterns. Other goals of psychotherapy include: helping the client acquire or alter personal social skills, improve adaptability to changing life demands, and develop a variety of problem-solving or decision making capabilities.

Medication/Somatic Service

Since one of the main objectives is the provision of high quality outpatient psychiatric services, provisions are made for expedient psychiatric consultation.  Accordingly, any client may be referred to the psychiatrist for face to face contact to assess medication needs and characteristics as determined by the therapist.  At the discretion of the psychiatrist, medication may be prescribed and follow-up visits may be scheduled with the client so that the effects of the medication can be monitored.
